Cape Hatteras North Carolina

Cape Hatteras North Carolina was listed as number 8 in the top ten list of best beaches in the USA today. Its no wonder cause this is a beautiful vacation spot. The beach is the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and extends ove 75 miles along the North Carolina Outer Banks. This was the first national seashore established in the usa. The national park includes a lighthouse at Buxton NC. You can find a visitors center and lodging here too. If you want to camp here, there is a fee. Other visitor centers are at Bodie Island and Ocracoke. Last year, Ocracoke was listed the number 1 beach in the US.

Beachwalker park, located on Kiawah Island South Carolina, was name number 10 in the list of best beaches in the USA today. The park is 21 miles south of Charleston SC on the South Carolina Lowcountry coast. Its a county park with lifeguards in the summer, dressing areas, outdoor showers, restrooms and picnic areas with grills. There also a convenience store and gas station nearby. This is a beautiful beach to spend the day. Hours are posted and vary season to season so its best to check when you arrive cause things change and thats why I dont post hours here. There is a fee for your vehicle.

nc lighthouses

NC lighthouses are among the oldest lighthouses in America. Everyone who visits the beach wants to see a lighthouse. Cape Hatteras is perhaps the tallest brick lighthouse. The Lighthouse on Orcacoke island is the oldest on the Atlantic ocean and the Oak Island Lighthouse is one of the newest lighthouses. Family beach in North Carolina

There are lots of family beaches in the NC coast. Atlantic Beach is a very good vacation spot for the family. There’s oceanfront hotels, cottages, beach vacation rentals homes and plenty of other places to stay in the area. Atlantic Beach is a good place to stay cause of its central location. Here you’ll find the southern shores outer banks nc. From here, you can visit Fort Macon, Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, Pine Knoll Shores North Carolina Aquarium and see more places of interest. Go Scuba diving for sunken treasure or explore the ocean from below. There’s an exhibit based on Blackbeard’s flagship the Queen Anne’s Revenge which is in the Beaufort Inlet. Blackbeard and pirates are always fascinating to kids. At the shipwreck, through a window on board you can see the wreckage of a German U-352 submarine. The waters around the outer banks are known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic so their are lots of shipwrecks. You can take a ferry to Cape Lookout and spend the day looking for seashells with your kids. You might get to see some wild horses too. there are plenty of other family beaches in North Carolina too. You might want to go further south near Wilmington. Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on Pleasure Island are good family vacation spots. You can take your kids to the historical sites nearby in Wilmington and the surrounding areas as well as enjoy the beach.

Edenton

Edenton is located along the NC coast in Chowan county.. It is an old city with many historic buildings. The town was incorporated in 1722. Prior to the American Revolution, the ladies here organized what is today called the Edenton tea party, which was the boycott of all English goods. You can take a walking tour of the historic district here. Visit St Paul’s Episcopal Church built in 1736, the Cupola House built in 1758, The Barker house built in 1782 and the Chowan County courthouse built in 1767. Another noted historic site is the Providence Burial Ground where prominent African Americans from the late 1700’s and 1800’s are buried. There’s a national fish hatchery here too with an aquarium, trails, ponds and exhibits.
