Cape Hatteras on the NC outer banks was named number 7 in the top ten best beach pics today. Cape Hatteras is known for the best board surfing on the US east coast and as a very good fishing spot. Beach Walker Park on Kiawah Island South Carolina also made the best beach list as number 10. Beach Walker Park is a public beach south of Charleston. Here you can play golf or tennis. Take tours of the island. Go sea kayaking or canoeing. Bird watch. It is also a good place to bike along the sea shore.

summer vacation plans

First of all, I am so glad the gas prices are down. Hope they don’t start rising again. Maybe this year, I will be able to go back to the beach for a long overdue vacation. The best time to go to the beach, I have found is right before school starts in August. The beaches are not so crowded then. Most people take their vacations around the 4th of July cause many factories shut down at this time of year for maintenance. Anyway, some good beach vacation getaway destinations in the South Carolina are: North Myrtle Beach, Isle of Palms or Hilton Head Island. These areas are more family oriented and quieter than other beaches. In North Carolina, the Outer Banks offer some beautiful secluded beaches perfect for getting away from all the hustle bustle of the city.

gas prices 2008

Posted in south carolina beaches at 11:46 pm by admin

Gas prices and a slow economy kept me away from my annual vacation at the beach. I usually go to South Carolina beaches because they are closest to where I live. I did hear that gas was being rationed – limited to 10 gallons a car in South Carolina since Hurricane Ike. However, that is only rumor. I do know for a fact in North Carolina, gas stations are running out of gas and driving the price up. People are waiting in lines. Yet my son just got in from Clemson, SC and said they filled up in South Carolina with no problem and paid $3.60 a gallon for gas. So, if your traveling, you’d better fill up when you can just in case so you won’t get stranded along the highway without any gas. Anyway, I missed relaxing on the beach and playing in the ocean with my grandkids this year. Hope the economy gets better.
