The Battleship alive event will be held in Wilmington at the battleship USS North Carolina on September 29th. there will be WWII living history interpreters enacting the daily duties and drills on the USS North Carolina.

Charleston at night can be an experience. There are night clubs and theaters. You can dance or see a play. There are some very good restaurants that offer fine cuisine. Its a beautiful city at sunset too.

A Tropical storm Gabriel hit the NC coast today. Winds were at 50 mph and there was lots of rain. The seas were rough. No evacuations were ordered. No real threat is expected. Vacationers stayed. People were advised to stay out of the ocean due to the severe Rip Currents. Gabriel was a weak tropical storm. A warning was in effect along the NC Coast north of Surf City and into Virginia. Campgrounds run by the park service on the Cape Hatteras national seashore were closed.
