Hope Plantation Windsor NC

The Hope Plantation was originally established in the 1720′s. In 1803, the plantation’s mansion was built by NC Governor David Stone and served as his home. You can tour the restored mansion, the outbuildings and grounds located @ 132 Hope House Rd.  Windsor North Carolina is located off US Rt. 17 west of Edenton and the Albemarle Sound. It is near the beaches of North Carolina but not at the beach.

Cape Lookout National Seashore NC

Cape Lookout National Seashore is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The address is Harkers Island Rd. It covers 55 miles and spreads over 3 islands. There are some beautiful secluded beaches here. Go birding, boating, fishing, swimming, camping, windsurfing and kayaking. You can bring your pet if you keep it on a leash. However, pets are not allowed on public ferries. Explore the lighthouse on South Core Banks. Bring drinking water. Take your trash back with you. You can get to Cape Lookout National Seashore via a public ferry or private boat.

Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head is the 2nd largest island on the US East coast. Hilton Head Island has broad beautiful beaches. It is a planned community with condos, vacation homes, villas and hotels. There are lots of things to do here. Many events are open to the public with little or no fees. You can eat at a restaurant and enjoy a beautiful view as you dine. See art exhibits by local artists at the Corridor Art Gallery. Take a horseback tour of the Forest Preserve. Go on a guided nature walk at low tide along the beach. See wildlife. Ride a one hour ferry to Daufuskie Island for a two hour narrated historical heritage tour. These are just a sample of what you can do on vacation in Hilton Head Island.
